I have been remiss, VERY remiss, in updating my blog. Like, five years remiss. In fact, I'm so ashamed that I deleted my post from 2015 and decided to start over. Funny, though. The opening paragraph still resonates as much in 2019 as it does in 2015:
It goes without saying the world has turned on its head several times since then, for good (the internet brings the world together) and bad. lnternet as a medium has forever changed our lives, and I feel lucky to participate in a small segment of that universe.
What's changed since then? A few things....the explosion of app-driven social communities, the emerging power of direct-to-consumer brands, the leveling of e-commerce across platforms and devices, and new technologies that might change everything (but so far, aren't), like augmented reality.
But the basics of business still apply, and the industry that I know best (home furnishings) is still fumbling around for an answer. I'll explain those challenges in my next post, which won't be 2024, I promise.
